Sick?
Forgot that I actually have a block seminar today.. yea Saturday at 10am. Although I set alarm at 8.30am, I thought that was just my own plan to wake up and do my presentation. So I woke up at 8 plus when Susanne (Annette's sister) told me that my alarm was ringing, woke up again i think at 10 plus when Susanne asked me why her discman can't work. I didnt know what was wrong, but later I dreamt that she didnt put in batteries. In the end I woke up at 1pm. Great! When the seminar was from 10-2pm and full attendance was required in order to pass the course. Rushed down to ask Annette what I should do next.
Ok back from the hospital.. Annette told me to say I got a bad headache today, had fever last night and felt like puking but the fever is gone now. Haha.. That's advice from a doctor telling you how to fake an MC. Wasn't that hard to fake since I always have swollen eyes, and I just needed to speak very softly and look very sian to look sick haha.. I am dead sick with a terrible headache. Anyway, my blood pressure was low too so it helped.
But then again, I am seriously glad that I missed the class. The module is "Morphological Analysis" which includes certain phonology topics and is taught in English. But the worst thing is that the teacher teaching the linguistic module with respect to English cannot pronounce words in English properly. I suspect she comes from Spain or something like that. I was in class yesterday doing an exercise she assigned us to do and I heard her say "These are some words in friends. Comment the data." Initially I was thinking what "Friends" and actually thinking that it could be in the TV series "Friends". Then I realised that she meant "French". OMG.. And I thought her usual "change" = ziange and "which" = wich were bad enough. I seriously think that the German students in the class can speak better English than her. But that's not the end of her bad English. We had to learn this term "Conversion" meaning that there are some English words that are used both as a Noun and a Verb. She spelled it as Convertion! Then thought about it for awhile and changed it to Conversion. Don't get me wrong I wasn't ranting or venting my frustrations again. I'm merely bewildered that they let someone who is not very good at a certain language teach the class, especially if Phonology is included. By the way, phonology is the study of the distribution and patterning of speech sounds in a language and of the tacit rules governing pronunciation. Oh well..
Went to the farewell party for the Summer University 2 days ago and saw Frau Herrmann. Ziming asked me to ask her if I see her about the contact list she promised to send to us last year. Then I realised everything is still stuck with Mister ... ! No prize for guessing it right because the answer is blatantly obvious. Frau Herrmann said she sent the whole stack of books (which includes the contact list and sort of a keepsake for the program and I saw from my friend's book that they even had a transcript from the University) to Mr Ow. So Stuttgarters, should we ask Mr Inefficient Ow for the books?
