2008 CNY
Somehow things don't always go the right way, or the way you want it to.

Had been a fervent procrastinator the past few days. I even became a horrible group mate, who didn't contribute much to the assignment due tomorrow, having been feeling unwell before CNY and subsequently too busy visiting relatives, collecting ang baos, and watching DVDs. I love the CNY for being able to have absolutely mouth-watering fabalicious soups!! Oh my.. I can still almost taste the chicken soup that was simmered for half a day. This year's reunion dinner has been slightly different and unique from previous years. I tried steamboat using broth intead of soups at a store in China during my visit last Dec and found the idea enticing so my family decided to use broth as soup base.

Otherwise, my 1st two days of CNY has been hopelessly routined and mundane just like every other year. I wonder if the elderly gets sick and tired of celebrating CNY the same way every single year. No don't get me wrong. I do enjoy CNY, the few days to slack and the family bonding time (esp with my dad around). But somehow, my family works a little differently. We tend to have more time for bonding sessions with our weekly visits to my grandparents' place while we have to rush from home to home to visit, never having more than that meager few hours at one place. Moreoever, different families have different plans, so we don't always get to meet each other except during the annual gathering on the 2nd day of CNY at my uncle's place.

Bored of the norm?

This year, the PSAQ set a new trend by visiting at each other's house and also to celebrate Q's birthday over steamboat on the 4th day of CNY. Will post up pictures of our delectable meatless steamboat when I get the pictures!
